Summary | The article is an attempted reconstruction of the least studied period in the life of the founder of the Urals Byzantium studies school Mikhail Syuzyumov — 1920s–1930s. Based on the analysis of a wide range of various sources the author made a first attempt to understand motivations underlying the historian's decisions made under the unusual circumstances of his pre-war years intellectual biography. The author also indicated the need to identify the range of problems associated with the initial periods of M. Ya. Syuzyumov's academic studies as a professional historian, which could be of interest for further studies of this renowned scholar's biography. | ||
