Summary | Ethnological expertise has resulted the research project headed by Andrei Golovnev in April-November, 2013, in the area of Nenets reindeer-herders migrations and geological survey of Gazprom Geologorazvedka on the Kruzenstern gas-field, western coast of Yamal peninsula. The expertise was focused on assessment of feasible consequences of geological survey activity upon tundra nomads’ lifestyle and, accordingly, the offering proposals aiming to minimize the prospective social and ethnocultural damage. The research revealed complexity and potentiality of compatibility of Nenets cultural traditions and modern industrial innovations, the flexibility and adaptability of nomadic reindeer-breeders’ culture, as well as the necessity of co-management of Yamal nomads and Gazprom.
