Summary | Problems of ethno-cultural and personal identity are extremely important for the development and self-realization of a creative individual. Their understanding and self-identification are related to a wide range of conditions and circumstances surrounding a poet and predetermining his communication with society, the strategy of his creative behavior and effectiveness of his actions. Creative individuality of the author, his interests, tastes and preferences, as well as individual psychology also play a significant role. In the process of study of the public work and creative writing of an outstanding Udmurt author and educator of the 20th century Kuzebai Gerd who suffered from political repressions in 1930s, the authors of the article came to a conclusion that the controversial social and historical environment in which Kuzebai Gerd had to live and work, together with a complicated nature of his ethnic and cultural self-identification process led to a tragic development in his literary career and personal life. The controversial historical and political events induced crisis processes in the world view and behavior of the poet. The tragic note in Kuzebai Gerd's poetry predetermined by the objective cultural and historical circumstances was further aggravated by a personal drama of the poet rooted in his individuality and the ethnic psychological type. | ||
