Topic ETHNO-CULTURAL PANORAMA OF THE URALS
Summary The paper presents an analysis of the effect of climate changes on the ethno-cultural situation in the European North-East; it is stated that climate changes triggered active migration processes, accelerated the disintegration of the Pra-Permian community, the formation of the groups of the Komi (Zyryan) and the Komi-Permyak ancestors, migration of the Ob Ugrians and Slavs into the settlement territories of the ancient Komi and the Komi-Permyak. The climate warming made the Northern territories more favorable for agriculture and thus more attractive for the agriculturist and cattle breeding populations of the southern regions.
Keywords climate changes, climatic optimum, migrations, population size, the Komis, the Finno-Ugrians
