“WE, THE LOYAL SUBJECTS OF THE MINING ADMINISTRATION DISTRICT, CRAFTSMEN AND WORKING PEOPLE”: SOCIAL IDENTITY OF THE URAL WORKERS OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

Summary	The paper presents an analysis of the specifics of the social (collective) identity of the mining and metals industry workers of the Ural in the first half of the 19th century. The author believes that the basic concept of “we” was a collective reference to the workers employed in the main and auxiliary production processes within the bounds of one mining and metals administration, which was an economic and territorial administrative unit embracing metallurgical factories, iron and gold mines, forests, rivers and hydro-technical facilities, as well as all kinds of auxiliary production facilities. During the historical period under study the idea of uniformity of the interests of the workers of different administrative districts did not yet gain common recognition.
