Summary | The article presents a summary of content-analysis of the General-Governor O. A. Igelstrom’s reports from the State Council Archives on the Kazakh steppe governance issues for the period of 1787–1790. The studied source is a bibliographic rarity, it is planned to make these documents available to a wider research community as part of the bigger project involving publication of various documents on the history of the Orenburg region of the pre-revolutionary period. The authors came to the conclusion that the Orenburg’s government was getting more and more insistent in requesting the Central Authorities’ approval of their initiatives and proposed decisions with regard to the Kazakh subjects. | ||
