Summary	In 1920–1930s new political and administrative, and at the same time economic, boundaries were drawn in the Central Asia — the region was incorporated into the general development plans of the Soviet Union economy. Over the 15 years period a large scale administrative and territorial reform based on the economic zoning principles was implemented in the country. All zoning works were based on the studies of the prerevolutionary geographers, primarily the representatives of the research school of the Russian Geographic Society.
