Summary The article presents an analysis of “Ust Sysolsk” poem by a Komi poet I. Kuratov (1865). Though based on personal motives this work has a wider meaning than just a biographical illustration revealing links with the urban texts in the Russian literature, and with the wider romantic concept of a poet whose destiny is the eternal solitude.
