Summary	The article gives a review of three recently published popular science books about the Urals addressed to a teenage audience. The author describes the specifi cs of presenting the image of historical past of the Urals, the methods used for the formation of value systems and the children’ and teenagers’ emotional attitude to the history of the region and the country in general, makes an attempt to understand and determine the influence of the author’s world view on the popular science discourse.
