Summary The article presents an overview of the D. N. Mamin-Sibiryaks drama works, focusing on his central play Gold miners, which in the final version became known as the At the Gold Bottom. Various stage productions and screen versions of Mamin-Sibiryaks plays are compared. The author narrowed down the genre definition of At the Gold Bottom as a satiric tragicomedy. It is demonstrated that the conceptual conflict of the play generated certain poetics which played a significant role in the process of evolution of the new drama of the late 19th century, as well as the appearance of the Chekov type plays.
