Summary | The article presents an overview of the D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak’s drama works, focusing on his central play “Gold miners”, which in the final version became known as the “At the Gold Bottom”. Various stage productions and screen versions of Mamin-Sibiryak’s plays are compared. The author narrowed down the genre definition of “At the Gold Bottom” as a satiric tragicomedy. It is demonstrated that the conceptual conflict of the play generated certain poetics which played a significant role in the process of evolution of the “new drama” of the late 19th century, as well as the appearance of the Chekov type plays. | ||
