Summary	The article deals with the peculiarities of public consciousness in 1967. It was the year of the 50th anniversary of the great October socialist revolution. This is the analysis of unpublished letters from citizens to the Council of Ministers of the USSR. The made work has shown, that on the mood of the people in 1967, influenced the monetary reform of 1961, the price increase in 1962, the adop¬tion of the Third program of the CPSU. Analysis of the letters to the conclusion that soviet citizens were dissatisfied with the high prices for food, social stratification, scarcity of goods. The author of this article shows that in Soviet society remained egalitarian view about the distribution of social goods in a Communist society. Wealth in the Soviet Union distributed unevenly. The authors of the letters wanted to reduce retail prices for food products, the elimination of the trade deficit, the alignment of the income of citizens. The authors believed that the government was obliged to reduce the prices of products. Letters 1967 show the discontent of the people local authorities and heads of state. The author of this article shows the effect “boomerang” of Soviet propaganda. The propaganda success of the Soviet state and assistance to other countries has caused people’s dis¬satisfaction, confusion and misunderstanding. Citizens wrote that they were outraged by the send¬ing of products to other countries, with the shortage of goods in the Soviet Union and low level of living of Soviet citizens. Some authors have threatened to revolt against the government. The made work has shown, that in 1967 in the public mind growing political apathy. The people were dissat¬isfied with the government.
