| Summary | The article is dedicated to the activities of the outstanding scientist and science organizer Guriy Ivanovich Marchuk (1925–2013). The significant projects of his life are considered: participation in the Atomic project; management of the Siberian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, including activities to develop computing centers in Siberia and the “launch” of the “Siberia” program; work in the posts of head of the State Committee for Science and Technology (GKNT) of the USSR and president of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The Siberian period of G. I. Marchuk is studied in more detail, since it was here that he became a major organizer of science and initiator of large projects. The biography of G. I. Marchuk is reconstructed in the paradigm of experience and heritage, which was declared within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation. It is emphasized that the Soviet experience of organizing and managing science, the activities of key figures in this field are the subject of discussions. The authors of the article, based on a study of the biography of Academician Marchuk, conclude that it is necessary to further study his initiatives in various areas of activity at the micro level, which will enable recreating his legacy more fully. | ||
