Summary | One of the stages in the study of the ancient history of the Ural (1920 — late 1950-s) was associated with the names of Alexander Andrejevich and Elizaveta Mikhailovna Bers — the descendants of the Russifi ed branch of the old Bers family. The paper is a fi rst attempt to offer a full review of the results of A. A. and E. M. Bers studies and their concept of the Ural region development from the Neolithic to the Late Iron Age. A. A. Bers in his work "The Past of the Ural" considered the ancient history of the region in comparison with the other Russian regions, and traced the genesis of the Bronze Age cultures. He was one of the fi rst scholars to mention the infl uence of the Huns and the early Bulgarians on the Ural population. E. M. Bers in her work "Archaeological sites of Sverdlovsk and its surroundings" proposed a concept of a single historical and cultural development line of the mountainous-forest Trans-Ural ancient population from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages. | ||
