Summary | Despite its geographically peripheral position the territory of the Russian north-west was from the old times an arena of rather complicated cultural and population genesis processes, a good illustration of which were the currently available linguistic, archaeological, genetic and anthropological data. The paper used an integration analysis method with regard to two independent systems of anthropological attributes. As a result various components participating in the formation of the Russian north-west population, the Baltic countries and Fennoscandia have been established. Already during the Mesolithic alongside with the European origin haplogroups a Siberian marker was also registered. An important role of Fatjanovskaya culture population in the formation of the anthropological composition of the Middle Age and the close to modern time population of the Russian north-west and the Baltic countries was identifi ed. Depending on the extent of the "Uralian" features presence the authors assumed that the Baltic Finns ancestors could have migrated into the Baltic coast territory from the Volga region, however, this impulse almost completely faded out in the territory of Estonia. The results of cranioscopic and cranimetric attributes analysis provided evidence in favor of the existence of a single anthropological base for the population of both eastern and western regions of the Baltics territory | ||
