Summary | Based on the analysis of the documents from personal archives of E. I. Baranovsky the author studied the relationships between one of the major reformers of the "Great Reforms" period P. A. Valuev and the so-called 'red governor', an outstanding representative of the administrative elite E. I. Baranovsky. "Unlustrous" reconstruction of A. P. Valuev's path to big-time politics and the role of his personal contacts and personality in this process was quite interesting for understanding the general pattern of the reformers community of that period in general. The reconstruction of the described in E. I. Baranovsky's memoirs mechanism of his dismissal from the governor's position in 1861—1862 filled the description of methods and ways used for removing the most radical reformers from the administrative elite of Alexander II period with real-life historical content. | ||
