Topic | DOCUMENTS ON THE HISTORY OF WORLD WAR I |
Summary | The publication deals with the history of the Russian refuges of World War I period. The author demonstrated that the comprehensive study of the period required in addition to the analysis of clerical records and periodic publications’ materials, as was the common practice of the majority of the Russian researchers until today, also the study of personal documents (ego-documents) created by the refugees themselves or the immediate witnesses of mass migrations of the war years. By way of example of this type of “personal texts” the publication cited an extract from the hitherto unpublished notes of an English nurse Violet Turstan, who during the winter of 1915/1916 participated in the organization of ambulance and medical care services for the Russian refugees. | ||
