Topic ETHNO-CULTURAL PRACTICES IN LITERARY PROCESS
Summary Vladimir Derzhavin (1908–1975) is well known for his translations of poetry, however his own original work was not yet researched or published in full. Only one book of his poems was published during his lifetime (1936). Beginning from 1940 all his publications were exclusively translations, however he continued writing his own poetry all his life, The article contains a brief bibliography of V. V. Derzhavin's publications as well as 8 of his poems all of which had been inspired by Central Asian motifs. The literature, languages, and culture of Central Asia were quite close to Derzhavin because of his work on translation of of both epic and modern poetry, as well as the circumstances of his life (evacuation to Tashkent during WWII). Five poems have been published for the first time, the other three contain significant textological corrections made on the basis of both private and public archives research.
Keywords Vladimir Derzhavin, literary translation, Russian poetry of the Soviet period, Central Asia
