Topic ETHNO-CULTURAL PRACTICES IN LITERARY PROCESS
Summary The article deals with the issue of representation of the city of Vilnius landscape in poetry, prose, documentary and other texts created in the Russian language during the period from the end of the 1940s to the early 1980s. The purpose of the study was the understanding of Vilnius conversion strategies. Analysis of the texts demonstrated that the image of the capital of one of the three Baltic Soviet republics combined the traits of the “other” environment with moderately exotic coloring associated with belonging to the Lithuanian national and the general West-European culture, and the “own” context, the elements of which included figures and episodes of the revolutionary and national-liberation struggle, the Russian national history and the history of culture. These elements included Vilnius into the Russian historical and cultural text, inscribing the city into the Soviethistorical meta-narrative, which was, in fact, the city's conversion.
Keywords Vilnius text, metanarrative, myth, national tradition, Russian literature, imaginary space
