Topic HISTORICAL DEMOGRAPHY IN REGIONAL DEMENSION
Summary On the basis of public healthcare authorities' documents and the running population statistics records the authors studied one of the demographic factors, i. e. infant mortality. The stages, dynamics and specifics of this process in the Ural in the first half of the 20th century, as well as the factors (economic, political, social) affecting infant mortality statistics have been identified. It was demonstrated that the transformation of infant mortality in the Ural (significant rate reduction, decrease of its share in the total mortality numbers) occurred in the first phase of the demographic transition.
Keywords demographic transition, infant mortality, structure of causes of infant mortality, Ural, Sverdlovsk region
