ECONOMIC IDEAS AND BEHAVIORAL STRATEGIES OF THE SOVIET POPULATION DURING THE NEW ECONOMIC POLICY (NEP) YEARS: MODERN RUSSIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Summary	The article emphasized the interdisciplinary character of the topic and listed several relevant re-search approaches. The author drew a conclusion that the issues of the people's attitudes towards the economic policy of the country, including the protest movement, as well as the problems of the quality of life were the best researched subjects. Significantly less attention was paid to the study of the problem on a regional level, as a result of which it was difficult to understand the evolution and the local specifics of economic opinions and the population behavior strategies. On the other hand in the studies of everyday life of the population there was a domination of local research. The degree of the representative quality of sources on the subject was mainly determined by the so-called “classic” sources: statistics, budget review materials. It is necessary to use more actively the materials from private sources: private letters, complaints, diaries. It seems also promising to study the interdependencies between the quality of life of the population during the NEP years and the choice of economic behavior strategies, stereotypes and consumption culture of the urban and the rural population.
