Summary | Reading both the white and dark pages of the history of Russian historiography we start thinking about the role of a researcher, the meaning of expeditions, the exchange of ideas and the impor-tance of (arti)fact. The article tells about the research work of a well known Moscow ethnographer Vera Nikolajev-na Belitsker (1903–1983) with the main focus on Udmurt ethnography. The author emphasized the need to publish field materials and other notes and manuscripts on ethnoculture of the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia, which for various reasons were not published before. It was demonstrated that this reference to the unknown ethnographic texts could lend additional dynamism to the problem areas of research professing the knowledge of the past and present life of the people. | ||
