Summary	The article provides an analysis of various approaches to understanding the role and the place of the Urals in the historical development of the Russian state in the Russian historiography. It traces the influence of geopolitical ideas and concepts on the interpretation of the Urals’ regions organizational specifics; reveals the novelty of theoretical approaches to modeling of the region’s history in Eurasian historiography.
