Topic LITERATURE IN HISTORY: POSITIONS, METHODS, SOLUTIONS
Summary The article deals with the historiographic problems of research of the history of the Far East emigration based on the analysis of creative works of one of the talented poets of the oriental branch of the Russian emigration — Nikolai Shchegolev His life story was quite typical for the generation of the “Russian boys” who were born outside Russia and had to fi nd their attitude towards the homeland correlating their creative work with political likes and dislikes. For a long time it was believed that the “returnee” Shchegolev like so many other voluntary and forced authors-repatriates abandoned literature. The recently published poems of the emigration period, as well as the manuscripts of the poems, lectures and essays in prose by Shchegolev of his “Soviet period” opened new pages in the individual life story of the former Harbin poet and the history of the Far East emigration in general.
Keywords the eastern branch of the Russian diaspora, Russian Harbin, Russian Shanghai, “Union of the returnees”, repatriation, poetic world, the lyrical hero, literary criticism, “Churaevka”, “Today”, “The Island”
