Summary | Celebrated 100 years since the birth of L. Križevskaâ (IIMK, RAS), who has made a significant contribution to the study of the Stone Age in the Urals and Western Siberia during more than 40 years in the second half of the twentieth century. Her work was focused on field studies that have resulted in the accumulation of archaeological sources, staging and development general matters of cultural development of the stone age in the Urals and Western Siberia, teaching at universities in the region. Working in close cooperation with archeologists of Perm, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, L. Križevskaâ investigated a number of important Neolithic-Eneolithic sites, identified a particular type of lithic-workshops. She is the author of the first holistic concept of Neolithic in Southern Urals that underlies the modern ideas about stone age in forest-steppe Trans-Urals. Comparing new data trough the region, she caught the specificity of the northern (forest) and southern (foreststeppe) stone industries, identified a similar trend in the evolution of ceramics in these two areas (the parallel development of the combed and incised decorative traditions) and diversity of local cultures throughout. L. Križevskaâ laid good methodological school of Neolithic investigation, in keeping with the integrated approach and a wide spectrum of research methods and nurtured a new generation of specialists in lithic industries. | ||
