Summary	Archaeological studies of the recent years in the territory of the northern part of Western Siberia demonstrate two clearly visible components of the aboriginal population culture — the routine, the common, based on the use of local resources, and the elite, more characteristic for the mobile groups of the population — the chiefs, warriors, and traders. The articles analyses both components of the archaeological cultures, their sources, evolution, and historical development.
