| Summary | The article offers an overview of the modern concepts and approaches towards the understanding of the ethnological expertise phenomenon. The ethnological expertise with its emphasis on the comprehensive integrational study of the ethno-social processes has been classified as part of the sociological approach. The ethno-ecological approach context embraces the studies focusing on the ethno-ecological systems consisting of the ethnic communities and the ethno-cultural environment. The phenomenological approach implying the limited transformation of culture and building of its system into the new environment views the ethnological expertise as the method of the “positive action aimed at optimization of the inter-ethnic cooperation” and the “activation of the ethno-cultural potential”. From the point of view of the legal approach the ethnological expertise becomes the “element of the public legal awareness” and is referred to with the purpose of “elaboration of the mechanism of the most important collective and individual rights of the indigenous peoples”. The system approach analyzes the potential external effect and the way it affects the whole system of interrelations between the technologies, nature and society. In addition, the ethnological monitoring is used as the basis for the expert assessment of the ethno-cultural and the ethno-confessional situation. The existing academic and practical study situation demonstrates that the ethnological expertise today is not something uniform, but rather is a certain “realm of expert assessment practices”. One of the important outcomes of the academic and practical study is the legal regulation development, which moves in the direction of codification of the ethnological expertise procedures. | ||
