Summary | The article studies the self-description language in the texts of a Russian language Khanty author E. D. Aipin (1948). The author is understood as a representative of the traditionalist type of creative vocation. This is important for the understanding of the Russian literary environment as a heterophase movement in various regions and ethnic cultures. The author’s professionalization required, on the one hand, adhering to certain standards of the Soviet civilization culture while describing the “friend/foe” opposition, and on the other — the internal clarification by the author of the boundaries and laws of the ethnic cosmos, the formation of an organic system of means for the construction and the dynamization of depicted reality. At first the self-description language in the works of E. D. Aipin evolved via the choice of a typical main character (a Khanty of different ages subject to a test by various life situations) depicted in a clan succession chain or on a verge of its physical breaking. This motivated the author to introduce into his texts the symbols of the link of the heathen hero with the nature and the myth-folklore elements of traditional life. By the early 1990s the author developed an awareness of himself as the chosen and the ordained person speaking on behalf of his people to the gods of that territory and to the meaningful representatives of other ethnic cultures of the country and the world, which resulted in the enlargement and ontologization of the narrative forms and his publicistic style. The concept of the people was then complemented by the concept of love structuring the artistic form, which, in its turn, resulted in the change of the motifs repertoire of the author. His late publicistic essays were full of imperative formulas reinstating the positive-mythologizing world view of one of the significant artists in words of the modern multilingual literature of Russia. | ||
