Summary | The articled analyzes the change of the reproductive behavior patterns of the population in the cities and rural areas of the Sverdlovsk Oblast in the 1950s–1970s, which was one of the main reasons for birth rate decline. The authors traced the reduction of birth rate and the share of third and further children in the family in the total number of births, which was an evidence of transition to a family pattern with small number of children. In the process of analysis the authors used the data of opinion polls revealing most common motivation for child birth, as well as the data of official statistics for the Sverdlovsk Oblast, specifically the reports of the Regional Statistics Department, mostly those containing data on the birth rate dynamics in the urban and rural areas of the Sverdlovsk Oblast. | ||
