Summary | Intensive industrial development has for a long time been an important element of the Ural’s identity. Today the Ural is experiencing a new wave of industrialization within the context of implementation of the national mega project “The Industrial Ural — the Polar Ural”. On the other hand there are new opportunities for the development of various other regional business sectors including tourism and hi-tech industries. The specifics of the regional development will entail changes in understanding and positioning of the region, which in its turn will affect the general perception and the image of the territory. Thus the demand for the holistic correct vision of the region contributes to the competent promotion of the regional development projects. All the above is a new significant challenge for the interdisciplinary community of academics and practitioners. At the same time this gives a unique opportunity for the rediscovery of creative potential of the region and the restoration of its ethnic and cultural specific features. In this context the combination of traditions and innovation, the natural wealth and the cultural and historical characteristics are viewed as a unique value and a wonderful source of inspiration for the practical and theoretical development of design concepts. | ||
